During your degree you will be expected to participate in vocationally relevant experiences as part of the course.

As part of this programme, you will be expected to complete a minimum of 70 hours' of work experience in a relevant field.

The skills developed as a result of work experiences will give you the option of finding relevant employment, or to progress on to higher level study. This will be completed in your second year of study.

There is a range of internship opportunities onsite with the college academy programmes and information regarding these will be provided during the induction week.

In addition, you will have access to a range of relevant trips or visits, additional qualifications and a range of subject specialist guest speakers to enhance the programme content. Guest speakers and some visits may be free but some trips or visits and courses will incur varying costs depending on the nature of the additional activity. Such costs will be kept to a reasonable rate.

Before you begin your course, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared with the right equipment. Many of our courses need specialist health and safety clothing, but we’ve made it simple - some of your essentials and college branded clothing can be bought from our online shop.

For your course, you will need:

  • A tablet, laptop or stationery to take notes in lectures and seminars
  • USB stick and / or portable hard drive
  • Appropriate sports kit for practical activities
  • It is suggested that all students apply for an advanced DBS (roughly £44) for course and work-related activities as you will be undertaking work experience with young people.
  • Additional budget to cover the costs of additional courses, visits & experiences over the duration of your programme
