The FdSc Sport, Health and Exercise Science programme is designed to produce knowledgeable and vocationally capable graduates using both practical and academic settings. As a sport student you be expected to participate in vocationally relevant experiences as part of the course.

As part of this programme, you will be expected to complete a minimum of 70 hours' of work experience in a relevant field. This will be completed in your second year of study.

The skills developed as a result of work experiences will give you the option of finding relevant employment, or to progress on to higher level study.

Our sport programmes aim to develop your chances of employment through the opportunities you will have, for example through involvement in community sports development and coaching.

Before you begin your course, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared with the right equipment. Many of our courses need specialist health and safety clothing, but we’ve made it simple - some of your essentials and college branded clothing can be bought from our online shop.

For your course, you will need:

  • A tablet, smartphone or laptop to take notes in lectures and seminars
  • Stationery
  • USB stick and / or portable hard drive
  • Appropriate sports kit for practical activities
  • It is suggested that all students apply for an advanced DBS (roughly £44) for course and work-related activities.
