The Childcare team has strong links with over 100 placement providers across the region, settings including day nurseries, pre-school provision, child minders, special schools, primary schools, and children’s centres. You’ll benefit from practice-based, applied learning to gain and develop knowledge, understanding and skills, with employers and other professional agencies and organisations contributing directly to the delivery of the course.

Before you begin your course, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared with the right equipment. Many of our courses need specialist health and safety clothing, but we’ve made it simple - some of your essentials and college branded clothing can be bought from our online shop.

For your course, you will need:

  • College-branded polo shirt for use while on work placements
  • Folder with dividers to organise your work and assignments
  • Stationary including notepad for use in class, pens and pencils
  • USB pen drive (for saving your work)
  • A laptop or tablet will also be useful, although the College can provide these on loan when required
  • Please note, you will also need £44 to cover the cost of the DBS check, which is required for your work experience.
