One of the units on your course focuses on work experience. To achieve this unit you must complete the equivalent of 45 days of work experience. Previous students have gone on placements at land-based industries such as a tractor / farming machinery dealership or on an actual farm, etc.

It can be completed on a weekly basis on days when you are not required at college and/or in a block during holiday periods. Throughout the course, you will get the opportunity to go on a range of visits. You will get plenty of notice of these visits and trips so that you save for them, although we try and keep them as cheap as possible.

Before you begin your course, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared with the right equipment. Many of our courses need specialist health and safety clothing, but we’ve made it simple - some of your essentials and college branded clothing can be bought from our online shop.

For your course, you will need:

  • One pair of steel toe cap boots
  • Safety goggles (clear)
  • One pair of college-branded overalls (NB: these must be cotton)
  • All other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided
  • Folder with dividers to organise your work and assignments
  • Stationery including notepad for use in class, pens and pencils
  • USB pen drive (for saving your work)
  • Please note – you will not be allowed to take part in workshop activities if you fail to have your boots and overalls with you.
