Work experience and visits to settings is a key part of a student’s study programme, providing opportunities for applying learning and for building employability skills. The settings we use include day nurseries, playgroups, residential care homes, schools, day centres, and nursing homes.

Guest speakers and study visits are crucial to the way we deliver our course – we want you to have an exciting experience which really prepares you for your next steps! You will get plenty of notice of these visits and trips so that you save for them, although we try and keep them as cheap as possible.

Before you begin your course, you’ll need to make sure you’re prepared with the right equipment. Many of our courses need specialist health and safety clothing, but we’ve made it simple - some of your essentials and college branded clothing can be bought from our online shop.

For your course, you will need:

  • Smart black trousers
  • College-branded polo shirts
  • Folder with dividers to organise your work and assignments
  • Stationery including notepad for use in class, pens and pencils, rubber and ruler
  • USB pen drive (for saving your work)
  • Pens, felt tips, scissors and glue sticks for practical work
  • Please note, you will also need £44 to cover the cost of the DBS check, which is required for your work experience.
